Abstract
The banded greenhouse thrips, Hercinothrips femoralis (Reuter, 1891), is newly recorded from Iran. This is also considered the first record of the genus Hercinothrips Bagnall for the country. This record increases the number of Iranian members of the subfamily Panchaetothripinae to nine species in eight genera. The thrips was collected from bell pepper, Capsicum annuum L. (Solanaceae), in a greenhouse in Tehran, Tehran province, in February 2025. A taxonomic diagnosis is provided to facilitate its identification.
