Abstract
Based on a compilation of bibliographic records and examination of specimens deposited in institutional and private entomological collections, an updated checklist of the Lucanidae of Peru is given. This updated version includes 47 species (with one subspecies) arranged into 14 genera, three tribes, and one subfamily, with 34 species recorded only from Peru. The genera Sphaenognathus Buquet, 1838, Aegognathus Leuthner, 1883, Incadorcus Arnaud & Bomans, 2006 and Onorelucanus Bartolozzi & Bomans, 1989 are the most diverse ones. Cantharolethrus steinheili Parry, 1875 and Aegognathus leuthneri Van der Poll, 1886 are excluded from the Peruvian fauna. The details of the regional and provincial distribution of species are presented. Additionally, photographs of some Peruvian species are included.
