Abstract
A new extinct species of the genus Atomaria Stephens, 1829 from Baltic amber is described and illustrated: A. (Anchicera) rasnitsyni sp. nov. from Baltic amber. It is the tenth species of the genus Atomaria from the Eocene amber fauna and the fifth species from Baltic amber. The new species is distinguished by the combination of morphological features, particularly the length of the antennae and the shape of the pronotum. An updated key to the species of Atomaria known from Eocene ambers is presented. The ecological characteristics of the subgenera of Atomaria and their possible influence on the representation of these beetles in Eocene ambers are also discussed. Cryptophagids (19 species) are the most diverse group of mycophagous beetles in European amber.
